The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate knowledge of educational best practice and how to develop that in others; being able to develop and lead educational initiatives; able to establish positive learning relationships with students, staff, parents and whanau.

Responsibilities likely to include aspects of personnel management, leading professional learning, teacher appraisal and registration, provisionally registered teacher education programme and staff induction.

Middle Management

1. Head of Guidance 2MU and 1 MMA

We require a qualified and NZAC registered guidance counsellor with school counselling experience. The successful applicant will provide personal counselling to students and provide leadership in the area of counselling and student support. Full position description available on request. Commences 2018.

2. Guidance Counsellor
Qualified counsellor NZAC registered and preferably NZ teacher registered.
– Group facilitation skills desired but not essential.
– Ability to manage a caseload, respond effectively in a crises and have cultural awareness.

3. English / Media Studies.
Seeking an enthusiastic practitioner with the ability to teach up to NCEA Level 3 and Scholarship. Must share the school’s passion for equity and raising Maaori student achievement. Prior experience with e-learning will be an advantage.

4. Physical Education & Health / Outdoor Education
Position requires ability to teach physical education and health to all levels and NCEA Level 2 and 3 Outdoor Education.

5. Technology
Particular strengths in hard materials technology with ability to teach in another non-specialist technology subject. (design and visual communication, digital technology, food and fabric technology).

6. Careers / Transition
We require a registered teacher who can demonstrate abilities in designing and implementing programmes in careers and transition education. The successful applicant will join a dynamic team comprising a head of careers, gateway co-ordinator and careers administrator.

7. Kaiako Te Reo Maaori – Ngaa Tikanga Maaori  Part time / Full time 2018.

Te Reo Maaori 9-10, Te Reo Maaori NCEA L1-3, Ngaa Tikanga-a-Iwi Unit Standards L1-3.

Pukekohe High School require a kaiako who can work in the areas mentioned above. The position could involve a Year 9/10 class, a NCEA Te Reo Class and/or a NCEA Unit Standard Tikanga-a-Iwi class. To be full time the balance of hours would be in a teaching area the successful applicant is comfortable with. This role is suitable for a beginning teacher.

8. Mathematics
Ability to teach maths up to and including NCEA Level 3 calculus and statistics.
