This course will develop student understanding of the underlying concepts of health including the impact on hauora (well-being), influencing or contributing factors on the health issue, attitudes and values that may be present in society and health promotion that can lead to change. Students will learn to work collaborately and develop their thinking skills in relation to a number of Health issues impacting our society today.

Course Information

What Knowledge Will I Develop?

Students will learn to take action to improve an aspect of their own well-being. They will develop understanding of how to manage changing situations that are common in teenagers' lives. Students will investigate the influencing factors on adolescent eating patterns and learn to make health enhancing decisions related to drug use in young people in New Zealand. All learning leads to students promoting health by developing strategies at both personal, interpersonal and societal levels.
