Sheyne beautifully dismantled this by sharing his own journey, explaining that his best techniques were discovered through years of trial and error.

Because the workshop aimed to produce work for their folios and workbooks, students quickly realised that unexpected outcomes weren't "ruined" art, they were valuable learning steps that could be transferred to other areas of the achievement standards. When a print didn't turn out as expected, students stayed motivated to pivot and try a different approach.

Students raved about Sheyne’s calm, patient demeanour. He broke down complex industry techniques into simple, step-by-step instructions and showed how everyday items can be transformed into art. His individual praise and encouragement kept everyone inspired and motivated.

Having the extra support allowed for a great dynamic where students could get immediate feedback and resources right when they needed them, catering to the immediate needs of the students. Sheyne was incredibly impressed by how well-prepared and organised the class was, which allowed everyone to make the most of every minute. The new techniques and printmaking insights shared during the session has been integrated into our programme, ensuring the students can continue to build on these skills for folio work. Students walked away on the right track, completing a folio piece and work contributing to least two workbook pages.

The workshop was a fantastic collaborative experience for our classroom, concluding with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the students, who found the experience both highly creative and motivating. They were particularly inspired by how Sheyne could take normal everyday items and transform them into art. Ultimately, the class felt inspired to keep printmaking, agreeing that it was a thoroughly valuable experience that has put them on the right track for their upcoming art boards.
