Reflecting on the experience, Amy-Lee shared:
"I really enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to Innovation Franklin's Mobile Innovation Lab. A big thanks to Counties Energy for providing the materials. I'm excited to see how the New Zealand Power Grid Simulator can inspire other students to explore technology, engineering and innovation."
Amy-Lee also has a clear vision for her own future, with aspirations to pursue environmental studies, focusing on sustainable energy.
"I hope to go into environmental studies, with a focus on sustainable energy, helping not only our present, but taking care of our future."

When Rawinder left Pukekohe High School in 2019, he had already made an impression, receiving the titles of School Prefect and Sportsman of the Year, along with Excellence in Business Studies and the BP Innovation Award.
His entrepreneurial journey began through the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES). What started as an idea for an adjustable-compartment lunchbox soon took a different direction, evolving into Knack NZ – an initiative designed to help young people build confidence and bridge the gap into the workforce. Their interview simulator even featured an AI avatar, which was actually Rawinder operating behind the scenes!
Although his original plan was to pursue a sports scholarship, a hip injury meant a change of direction. Discovering a passion for problem-solving, Rawinder went on to study Artificial Intelligence at Media Design School, graduating with excellence and being selected as the student graduate speaker.
After gaining industry experience with Datacom and Robotics Plus, Rawinder decided it was time to build something of his own. In 2023, following a personal connection to the ram-raid issues affecting communities across New Zealand, he founded RevoTech, an AI analytics startup focused on smarter operations and security.
Today, RevoTech works with security companies across Australasia and has secured funding support from NZTA and Auckland Council as it continues to grow.
Reflecting on his journey, Rawinder has some great advice for his 18-year-old self:
"Don't stress if you don't have the perfect plan, or if you need to switch direction. As long as you put in the work, everything works out in the long run."
Rawinder's journey is a wonderful example of how the foundations developed at school, combined with curiosity, resilience and a willingness to adapt, can open unexpected doors.
