Waikato-Tainui Kawenata

Pukekohe High School is a partner in the Waikato-Tainui Kawenata. This is a formal relationship between Waikato-Tainui iwi and the school, established to support mutual education objectives.

We honour our Waikato-Tainui identity by the way Te Reo Maaori is written. The Waikato-Tainui convention of representing long vowel sounds as a double vowel, as in “Maaori” instead of “Māori”, is observed at Pukekohe High School.

If this interests you, you may find a recent publication from Waikato-Tainui worth exploring further.
