To this year’s Yr9s, While it seems like the year is nearly over for you, there is something you can think about over the summer. Are you interested in doing the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in 2020? It will cost you about $260 for the whole year and about 3hrs/week for three months. This sounds like a lot and it is. However, it is the first step towards gaining your Gold Duke of Edinburgh award which is presented by the Govenor General of NZ. You will complete a Skill, Community Service and Physical Recreation by yourself. Then you will also complete two overnight tramps for your Adventurous Journey. At the moment we are looking at tramping in either Northern Kaimais or the Hunuas. There will be a lunchtime information session in Week 2 of Term1 next year. If you have any questions before then, Mr Hughes in C4 would be happy to talk to you or your parents about the DOE programme at PHS. Have a think about this over the summer so you are ready to sign up Week 1.
