Update for Parents, Whānau and Students, Wednesday 25 March
I hope you are well and starting to adjust to the very different circumstances that we find ourselves in this week. With this update is some information on Resilience Strategies, which I hope will prove useful reading for you all.
As you may already be aware the school holidays have been brought forward so they fall within the four weeks of the lockdown period.
Holidays will now be from Monday 30 March to Tuesday 14 April inclusive (a reminder that the Tuesday after Easter Monday is always a closed day for schools). At the end of the school holidays, schools will be open for distance learning but not physically open for students or staff to work at the school.
The changed dates mean that students and staff will officially be on holiday from the end of Friday 27 March. This means that new material and activities may not be posted on Microsoft Teams during the term break. Similarly, I would not expect teachers to be in regular contact with their classes via email, though some may choose to do so if that suits their own circumstances. Students therefore have the remainder of this week to ensure they have what they need for the term break, just as with any normal school holiday.
Regular online learning will begin again from Wednesday 15 April.
It is still too early to be certain of the impact of schools closing for four weeks but NZQA have strongly indicated their flexibility and intention to be fair to all students. Please click on this link for information posted on 20 March.
The Guidance Department are extending their support to our students by being available during the holidays from Friday 27 March to Tuesday 14 April.
Should students feel the need to speak with their counsellor, they can email and arrange a phone appointment.

ID Cards – We thank you for your patience as the ID cards are processed. These are being delivered this week, and will be distributed as soon as school resumes in Term 2.
Senior Ball – We have decided to postpone the Senior Ball that was to have been held on Saturday 27 June. A new date will be confirmed once we have more certainty about normal school routines resuming.
Please email email@example.com should you have any further questions about the above points.
Thank you all for your support and patience as we have responded to the rapidly changing situation over the last week.
Take good care over the coming weeks and we will be in contact again with further updates as needed.
