We are proud to announce the successful encounter with the rare hosting of Northland Rugby Unions ‘Marist’ Under 15 Team. The team travelled from the North this weekend past looking to play Pukekohe High School in a friendly but competitive battle. Marist’s team consisted of players aged 13-16 years old alike the same as the Pukekohe High School ‘selected’ side which featured heavily with the Pukekohe High School Under 60kg Team. As the rain came down, it was not going to be an easy game with both teams looking even. Pukekohe High School strike first through a great cross kick from 1st-five Michael Ross ending with Caleb Rhodes over the try-line. It was a close tussle out there and the game could have gone either way. Final score 22-12 to Pukekohe High School. Special mention to Pukekohe High School’s players Michael Ross who directed play well, Christian Grant for his defensive courage, Tory Jones-Bruce for his elusiveness around the breakdown and Hamish Nicholls at the back. Marist Coach and former Pukekohe High School student Paul Hope stated it was a great event with a close battle as they had wanted, and was astonished by the warm welcome and after match function. Paul hopes to make this an annual event and wishes Pukekohe High School Rugby take a trip to the North in 2018. Special thank you once again to Marist RFU, Northland RFU, Counties Manukau RFU, Pukekohe HS, Marney Jones and Colin Rose, and our families and friends.
