Twelve science male students and three teachers headed to the volcanic region of Tarawera to discover the rich geo-thermal activity and history of the area. Students on day one visited The Buried Village and Lake Tarawera to see and experience the aftermath of the Tarawera eruption of 1886 which buried the region in volcanic material including the famous pink and white terraces. On day two students had the opportunity to go on a boat ride on Lake Rotomahana which now cover the recently discovered terraces. Another great authentic learning experience had by all.
